Hans Tino Hansen is founder and Managing Director of Risk Intelligence. His areas of expertise are threats from piracy, terrorism, insurgency and organised crime, especially in relation to maritime security, military conflicts as well as intelligence and the future of intelligence. He has extensive experience in public speaking and presentation to diverse audiencesAs an expert on maritime security threats in general and on piracy in particular, he has been consulted by Reuters, AFP, AP, BBC, Bloomberg, Radio France, International Herald Tribune, National Geographic as well as Danish national TV, radio and newspapers. He has contributed to books including the forthcoming Lloyd’s MIU Handbook on Maritime Security.
During 2001-2007 Hans Tino Hansen was managing partner of Protocol, a private intelligence company of which parts later constituted key elements in the formation of Risk Intelligence. 1997 to 2001 Hans Tino Hansen was President and CEO of East and Central European Advisors Ltd (ECEA) focusing on political and business intelligence, networking, and business management consulting for international clients in East and Central Europe.
1996-1998, he was as President of the European non-governmental organisation for young future leaders, Young Europeans for Security (YES), based in The Hague, the Netherlands with national branches all over Europe. As President of YES he was deeply engaged in the peace process in Cyprus and YES was at one point the only organisation allowed to carry out bi-communal activities. In 1998, as part of the process, he became the first civilian to be allowed by the Greek Cypriot government to stay overnight in Northern Cyprus. During 1994-1996 serving as Secretary General of YES he led the development of the international organisation including supporting the formation of national branches in East and Central Europe.
He has a master’s degree in economics from the University of Copenhagen and studied international relations at the same university. Prior to his studies he served in the Danish Army for two years and later in the army reserve 1990-1998 as a mortar platoon commander. |
