Jim Williams
Principal for Innovation


As the Principal for Innovation with the Transnational Crisis Project, Jim applies his background in opensource intelligence analysis and software concept design to oversee the development of the Crisis Project's networking and communications capabilities, infuses principles of nonlinear emergence and innovation to global operations, and assists particularly with the Climate Change & Security strand of substantive research. As a researcher at the International Centre for Security Analysis (ICSA), King’s College, London, he carried out research on nonprofliferation issues. Prior to making the transition into security analysis, Jim worked from 2004 as a software designer for the UK National Health Service, and carried out information systems consultancy work for British utility providers. In 2006 he received an award from Google in recognition of his conceptual software design. Previously, Jim has also taught English Language and Literature at a leading independent secondary school. For his MA in International Conflict Studies with the Department of War Studies of King’s College, London, Jim researched the security implications of anthropogenic climate change, focusing upon the outlook for Egypt. Jim is also a graduate in Modern History and English Literature from Jesus College, Oxford University.
